A mooring port since ancient times, the town has become a fishing port over the years. Initially part of the commune of Mandelieu, the town became independent in 1929. Since then, the seaside resort has evolved to welcome its many visitors. Situated between the Mediterranean and the Esterel mountains, the town is synonymous with nature. Théoule-sur-Mer is within easy reach of a number of hiking trails, including Grosses Grues and Pointe de l’Aiguille.

The natural heritage is also well worth a visit, with the natural bridge over the sea, the Estérel-Théoule departmental maritime park and the Pointe de l’Aiguille departmental park.
