The glittering city of Cannes is home to some of the most exclusive and luxurious properties in the South of France. The hills around the city are lined with villas, each more stunning than the next and all with spectacular views over the Bay of Cannes and the Iles de Lérins in the distance. Tucked away in the city centre you’ll find Belle Epoque townhouses and contemporary villas just a stone’s throw from the beach and the Croisette. With its gourmet restaurant scene, chic private beaches and glamorous boutiques, Cannes is the perfect place to rent a fabulous villa for a French Riviera holiday to remember.

The city centre from the Croisette to the Carré d’Or is known locally as ‘La Banane’ or the banana district. Named for its shape rather than its abundance of fruit trees, this is the heart of Cannes. The Croisette is the perfect place to take a stroll before having coffee in the shade of a palm tree. The Cannois come here to see and be seen, and it’s no coincidence that this is also where you can find some of the most upscale boutiques in town selling designer clothes, shoes and jewellery. A few steps back from the Croisette, the Carré d’Or is where you’ll find even more luxury boutiques and many of the town’s most exciting restaurants and clubs. From Michelin-starred restaurants to 1920’s style cocktail bars, Le Carré d’Or is where you’ll find everybody who is anybody once the sun goes down over the Mediterranean in Cannes.

At the end of the Croisette sit the port and Le Suquet, the oldest part of Cannes. Built as a traditional fishing village, the narrow stone streets wind their way up the hill to the former Medieval castle at the very top of town. Historical and charming, this area has some interesting museums and art galleries to check out during the day time. And at night the bistros and bars on every corner are always buzzing. This part of town is definitely up and coming, and it’s well worth a look while you’re in Cannes.

A complete contrast to Le Suquet, at the other end of the Croisette you’ll find the very modern Palm Beach area. Built on the waterfront, this part of town is mainly residential, but it’s perfectly placed to walk into the centre for drinks or dinner. Villas here are just that little bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, so this would be a great choice if you’re looking for a quiet property within minutes of all the action.

Up in the hills, the Californie district has been charming visitors to Cannes since the 1920’s and 30’s. This exclusive part of town is where you’ll find both gorgeous Belle Epoque houses and contemporary villas, all surrounded by lush green hills and clear blue skies. Throw in the stunning sea views and the easy access to the beaches down on the coast, and you’ve found the perfect place for a luxury holiday.

Just down the road from La Californie, Super Cannes is another glamorous neighbourhood. The properties here are set back from the road and surrounded by shady pines and olive trees for absolute privacy. Peaceful and quiet, Super Cannes is ideal if you want to spend your holiday enjoying the beautiful scenery and idyllic surroundings of the French Riviera.

With long hot summers and mild sunny winters, the French Riviera is known for its glorious Mediterranean climate. The Cannes season runs throughout the year, and there are always exciting events to enjoy while you’re in town. Come for the Film Festival in May or the Dance Festival in December, we can guarantee you’ll have blue skies and sunshine whenever you decide to visit.

The summer months of July and August are when Cannes really hits its stride, with visitors coming from all over the world to enjoy the beautiful golden beaches and azure water of the Mediterranean. But we think you’ll agree, it’s always a good time to spend a few weeks in the French Riviera’s most glamorous resort.

One of the big advantages to renting a villa in Cannes is the location. In summer, spend time exploring the coast from Cannes down to St Tropez, and in winter head up to the Southern Alps to discover some of the best skiing in the area. Take a helicopter from Cannes and find yourself on the slopes in less than an hour, it doesn’t get much better than that!

There are endless possibilities for fun in Cannes. From water sports to wine tasting and pretty much everything in between, this city has got it all. Here are a few of our suggestions to make your stay in one of our Cannes rental villas absolutely unforgettable:

Take in an outdoor concert

If you happen to be in town in July, don’t miss the ‘Nuits musicales du Suquet’ in the old town of Cannes. A series of outdoor concerts organised by the city, this is the chance to listen to some great classical music or jazz tunes by starlight. Classical artists come from all over the world to play this very special festival held in the square in front of the beautiful Notre-Dame d’Espérance Church. Sit back and relax in the shadow of the Medieval stone walls and enjoy a magical musical experience as night falls over Cannes.

Dine like a local

Cannes is known for its fabulous restaurant scene. From Michelin-starred palaces to modern fusion cuisine, there are so many incredible places to eat out. But if you fancy trying traditional Provençal cuisine while you’re in Cannes, there’s only one place to go. Aux Bons Enfants is a tiny bistro with a distinctly casual decor (think bare tables and paper napkins.) They don’t accept credit cards and reservations have to be made in person rather than by phone. But the food is delicious, and all the ingredients come directly from the town market with menus based on what’s in season. Try the Daube Provençale or the vegetable Farcis for a taste of local fare but remember to save room for the exceptional Crème Brûlée, we promise you won’t regret it.

Take in an art show

Everything is glamorous in Cannes, even the art museums. Sitting on the Croisette directly opposite the Mediterranean, La Malmaison Art Centre is one of the prettiest museums in the world. A beautiful Belle Epoque building, it was once part of the Grand Hotel complex, but today it’s home to various works of modern art. Visit the permanent exhibition with pieces by artists from the 20th and 21st centuries, or catch one of the temporary exhibitions honouring former local residents like Picasso and Matisse. Just remember to leave your camera at home as photography is strictly forbidden within the museum.

Island hop

Just a 15-minute boat ride away from Cannes, the Iles de Lérins are the perfect place for a day out in the sunshine. Visit Ile Ste-Marguérite and Ile St-Honorat by ferry or private boat, and discover these fascinating little islands. Explore the original cell where the mysterious Man In The Iron Mask was kept in Fort Royal, or visit the Cistercian monastery where local monks still produce wine from vineyards on the islands today. Pop into one of the beach front bistros for lunch, and then spend the afternoon strolling through shady pine trees or swimming in one of the secluded little coves all over the islands. Catch the last boat back to Cannes at 18.30h and then watch the sun set over these 2 beautiful little islands.
