In a world of mobile phones, constant selfies and hand held video games it is easy to forget the simple pleasures in life. The summer sun, longer days and warmer nights create wonderful opportunities to take part in a range of super events and enjoy the season.
Nothing says English Summer quite like a Summer Fayre and this coming weekend sees the annual, and hugely popular, Marylebone Village Summer Fayre and Festival: as they say, something for everyone.
The weekend’s activities get under way on Saturday 16th June with the Marylebone Summer Film Night, organised by The Howard de Walden Estate in collaboration with The Nomad Cinema and local Estate occupier Working Title, to raise funds for the COSMIC Charity: COSMIC raise funds for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London. This year’s screening will be the classic Four Weddings and a Funeral - screened in Paddington Street Gardens: this is a headphones event and tickets can be purchased from Nomad Cinema.
The main event takes place on Sunday 17th June with street stalls, a funfair and lots of tempting treats, whether your tastes run to sweet or savory.
Amongst the many stalls taking part are Daylesford, La Fromagerie, The Orrery (with their BBQ), award winning butcher The Ginger Pig, Butter Nut, Jewel House Rocks, Semon Cashmere and Prosecco Unlimited: we are sure that the latter will be a popular refreshment spot. For children there is a Petting Zoo, Fun Fair, Drawing, Racing bikes and lots of competitions and events at many of the individual stands.
